To engage northeast Georgia and the world with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
By living in Biblical community, building on the diversity of people from many nations and ethnic backgrounds: sharing, laughing, learning and loving people to Jesus.
By equipping and coaching each person to be an authentic, contagious purpose-driven Christian: focusing on a lifestyle of worship by sharing his / her story of God's grace, leading people to faith in Christ and serving in ministry by utilizing one's talents, gifts and life experiences.
By building a place of hope where those who are hurting, confused, depressed and frustrated can find help, forgiveness, encouragement and healing.
By developing our existing property in the next fifteen years with a state of the art children's building, a youth center and a family ministry center for prayer and counseling; a worship and recreation center that enables ministry to the total family - physically, emotionally and socially so that spiritual formation and discipline is developed in each person.
By planting a vibrant church in every time zone on every viable continent through annual short term mission projects; training and sending out those from within our church family to serve as pastors, missionaries and mentors around the world.
By becoming all that God would have us to be and re-write this vision as necessary because we recognize it is too limiting to God's supernatural power.
At The Family Church we strive to reach up, reach out and reach in. These key words summarize everything we do as a church. It is our mission and mandate.
Reach Up
We reach up in worship. This aspect of our purpose connects our relationship with God. Jesus said in Matthew 22:37 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." It is our desire to lead others to worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:34).
Reach Out
One of the primary purposes of the church is to reach out and share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with people outside the church. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 "Therefore, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...." We strive to be intentional in building relationships with the 88% of our community who are unchurched and share with them the difference a personal relationship with Jesus makes in our lives. We also want to create an atmosphere and environment that is welcoming and not intimidating to those who are seeking to know more about a relationship with Christ.
Reach In
Our third purpose in the church is discipleship. A key component to discipleship is caring and serving within the church community. The Bible describes it as being a part of the body, the bride of Christ. We want to care for each member of our church family and lead them to be fully developing followers of Christ through a personal ministry of service. God has gifted each of us with gifts and talents to be used to benefit others. Serving in a ministry brings total satisfaction and fulfillment in life.
It is what we were made to do: Reach Up, Reach Out and Reach In.
(I Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4 and Romans 12.)
The Authority of the Word of God
The Bible is truth without error and is our ultimate authority. We teach the Bible for life change. The Bible is not for our information, but for our transformation. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
A Commitment to Excellence
Our ministry should reflect a spirit and a quality of excellence second to none from the way we treat people to our programming, publications and implementation of our mission. (I Corinthians 10:31)
A Commitment to Evangelism and Missions
People matter to God and therefore matter to us. Therefore, we will have to be creative, innovative and culturally relevant in order to connect with those who do not yet know of their need for Christ and His Church. We intentionally strive to create environments that are conducive to the work of the Holy Spirit to draw people into a connectedness with Him. (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 4:5)
Praise and Worship
We believe that God desires an intimate relationship with every believer that is expressed through individual and corporate worship. (John 4:24)
Servant Leadership
Each believer is responsible for exercising his / her gifts in a coordinated, strategic unity of purpose with other members of the body. Christ is the head of the church and has appointed pastors to serve as overseers of the church and her ministry. Each member serves in partnership with others within the church to fulfill God's purpose for us here in this community. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
Family Focused Ministry
We want people to have a sense of belonging: whether a family of one, single parent family, blended family or traditional family - We celebrate God's gift of family. We are dedicated to a ministry of prevention rather than intervention to prepare our children for the future. We believe in the power of love, acceptance and forgiveness. Relationship of mutual, voluntary submission between believers forge accountability, foster care and fulfill our sense of belonging as The Family Church. We want to equip families with marriage and parenting skills to make a difference in a world that is attempting to divide the family unit. (Deuteronomy 6:5-9; Ephesians 5:1-2, 21)
